Breaking Dawn-Part 1

*Warning- contains spoilers*

So yesterday evening as I mentioned in Day 27 of my outfit challenge, I went to watch Breaking Dawn Part 1 of the Twilight Saga...and I loved it!

I wouldn't really count myself as a 'Twi-hard' fan, although I have read all of the books and seen all of the films. As I can wholeheartedly admit that the first film was unimaginatively disappointing and that Stephanie Meyer's writing often lacked creativity and inspiration at times.

However having said that, I had high hopes for this film as it features some of the key events in the whole of the Twilight story. For example, the marriage between Edward Cullen and Bella Swan, the birth of the half vampire, half human baby and Bella finally turning into a vampire. Despite what the critics had to say about the film, I was not disappointed and I would go as far as to say that this was the best film out of the collection so far.

I actually thought that the first film 'Twilight' 2008 was a bit of a disappointment, as I had spent the past year reading all the books and building up these characters in my mind, only to be let down by a movie which I felt was 'half- assed'. This film however was completely different and I felt that it did Twilight fans justice, as well as the relationship between Edward and Bella justice.

In a nut shell, the film is about a wedding, a lot of sex and a horrific pregnancy/birth. Although the film can be summed up quite simply in layman's terms, it is still entertaining, emotional dare I say and actually quite humorous in some parts.

If you have read the books you will no doubt breathe a sigh of relief when Edward and Bella finally get to consummate their marriage, as the chemistry between the two is just unbelievable throughout the saga. I think these scenes are dealt with respectfully and definitely do well to represent the anticipation of the first time...particularly with a vampire! Also you get to see a lot of Robert Pattinson's body, although admittedly not as much as I had hoped!

I absolutely loved the scene when Edward took Bella to Rio for their honeymoon, he shows her the honeymoon suit and she spends the next couple of 'human minutes' prepping herself for him. Shaving her legs and choosing her underwear carefully- it is so funny to watch and had the cinema in stitches!

The wedding, which is beautiful and exactly how I imagined it to be, is the perfect juxtaposition between the purity of the white decor and the blood craved by the vampires. What's more Bella's dress is absolutely stunning and is a throwback from the 1920's, with vintage lace and delicate silk detailing.

Although the wedding is beautiful, post honeymoon things start to get quite dark and actually relatively gory at times. I realise that this is a vampire movie and that there are bound to be a few sightings of blood, however once Bella gets pregnant she looses a horrific amount of weight and when she finally gives birth it is hard to watch...although this may just be me being a bit of a wimp!

Jacob has a touching role as ever, as his obsession and love for Bella see's him breaking down when he thinks that she has died in childbirth. Having helped deliver her and Edwards baby, which is named Renesemee a combination of Jacobs mothers name and Bella's, he imprints on the baby when he is faced with an overwhelming desire to protect and look after her.

If you hate Twilight, you will still hate it after seeing this film as it will definitely not change your mind. However, if you have invested valuable time reading the books and living in Bella Swan's world, then no doubt you will relish the opportunity to see this film and love it for all of its pitfalls as well.

I realise that you are never supposed to give films a 5 out of 5 rating, as it suggests that there is no where to go from here and no room for improvement. However I absolutely loved this rendition of Breaking Dawn, so I am going to give it 5 out 5 despite what the critics have said...I cannot wait for Part 2!

Day 28

Morning everyone and welcome to day 28 of my challenge...I am not working until this evening which means I have lots of time to blog, check out other blogs and answer all my comments/emails.

enjoy...

1.
This honey coloured cossack is one of my favourite things I have bought in a long time ( actually I didn't buy it, it was a treat from the boyfriend). It has recently got extremely cold over here in Northern Ireland so the hat is a definite must. This one cost £22 from Topshop and I also have a grey coloured one which was only £5 from Primark. Both are equally gorgeous, I just prefer this one because it's the same colour as my hair!
2.
I have featured this blouse and this necklace before but I felt that they bring something a little classy and simplistic to the craziness of the leopard leggings.
Cappuccino Blouse: Topshop £38
Dirty Gold Necklace: Topshop £10
3.
Ahem.. this needed to go on here!
Leggings: £6 Primark...Topshop do the same ones for treble the price- don't be fooled people!
4.
Okay so back to normality..
I decided to add this boyfriend blazer from Primark to make this outfit a little more wearable and most importantly warm!
Blazer: Primark £12

I love Miss Selfridge

003. I actually haven't been in Miss Selfridge for a while and when I went shopping over the weekend, I was pleasantly surprised! There was absolutely so much I wanted, I found it hard to narrow it down for you guys! What's more all of their accessorise are reasonably priced and actually quite unique compared to the likes of Topshop. Their sizes are also on the smaller side, which is perfect for someone miniature like me! My boyfriend bought me this coat for Christmas...I absolutely love it:)

Day 26

Monday blues yet again! Hope everyone is well:)

enjoy....

1.
This floral top was actually my mums and is from Sainsbury's TU!
I am not sure exactly how much this cost but I think it was around £8. Definitely take some time to check out Gok Wan's range at TU, some pieces are really stunning. I absolutely love this Tux Jacket which is only £45.
My necklace is one of my favourite pieces of jewellery and I purchased it from a lady who travels around the country selling precious stones. I bought this one in Canterbury a couple of years ago and I have since bought jewellery from the same lady in Exeter. I have her name somewhere but I think I left her details at home, I will definitely post them when I find them. This amber necklace cost £25.
2.
These chino's are from Rare and cost me £10 in the sale:)

Day 25- Ark

The best day of the week is upon us once again!
For this post I am doing something a little different. This is a no frills, no fancy jewellery or accessorise post in which I share with you all the idea behind the clothing company 'Ark'.
Ark, a clothing company created in Northern Ireland by a guy Andrew and his friends used to play rugby with at school, is a company with a heart warming difference.
Ark- which stands for acts of random kindness inspires and encourages it's buyers to make small gestures of kindness, that will inturn spread joy and happiness to others. The clothing itself is nothing inspirational, however the beauty is instead in the simplicity of the idea.
I acquired this t-shirt through an act of random kindness in which a friend of mine knocked on my door one random evening and handed me it, simple and I am sure you will agree, very kind.
Ark also encourages its wearers to make small gestures of kindness once they have purchased their clothing, like donating spare change to a homeless person or buying a friend a cup of coffee (the shirt itself comes with a thermal cup holder to encourage this offering).
I think that this is a wonderful idea that goes to show how versatile and encouraging fashion can be when it comes to inspiring others and making positive changes. It also makes me smile knowing that I have such kind and generous friends...

Day 24

Happy Saturday everyone! How is everybody doing with their Christmas shopping? I haven't even started thinking about buying yet...I hope I am not the only one! I kind of like leaving it until last minute though, there is something much more 'Christmassy' about that..

Enjoy..

1.
I am recycling outfits people! However I don't believe I have featured this top on my blog for a long time. Its a peter pan tiered blouse from Topshop and it's one of my favourites. Its festive, feminine and flattering.
The shorts are also from Topshop and cost £65.
2.
This scarf is from Primark and cost £3...I absolutely love anything with animals on it so as you can imagine, I was naturally drawn to this! It looks great with my green barber jacket which was also from Primark costing £22.
3.
4.
5.
This necklace is sterling silver and has Asian influence on the ceramic pendant, I don't think this photo is very clear... I purchased it a few years ago at a market in Exeter and it cost me roughly £25. I absolutely love it and whenever I wear it it always gets plenty of compliments:)

Day 22: Happy 1st birthday blog!

WELL...today bracelets & bangles is 1 year old! I cannot believe where the time has gone and although I still have a long way to go, I am really pleased with how far my blog has come in the last year.

As long as people are reading and enjoying what they are reading I am a happy lady:)

I have asked my friends and family to put together a video to celebrate my blogs 1st birthday...the video will follow this evening, so keep your eyes peeled and a massive thank you to everyone who took part!

In the mean time here are the pictures for day 22 of my 100 day challenge...

1.
Here I am wearing the shorts that I featured in yesterdays post, 'a trip to primark'. I kind of felt that they were a bit too impulsive at the time and to be honest I had twangs of guilt over buying myself clothes at Christmas time! But having had very little money for the past 6 months, I decided to bypass the guilt and keep all of my impulsive/semi selfish buys! The suede shorts were £14 from Primark and are really good quality, as well as being relatively flattering.
My shirt is from Urban Outfitters and I purchased it on a family trip to Cardiff last year. It cost me £46 and I love it just as much now as I did then. I think it looks great with just jeans or dressed up with heels and a clutch bag.
2.
3.
These Earrings have a delicate swirl effect as well as an antique gold finish. I am actually planning to wear them to my cousins wedding two days before Christmas:)
4.
Happy birthday bracelets & bangles!

Day 21

Another post and go I am afraid folks..I have to run off to work!

Enjoy day 21 of this never ending challenge!

1.
If you read my post this morning, 'a trip to primark' then you will know about my new favourite item of clothing. This jumper is warm, easy to wear and looks great with a whole host of things. It cost £12 from Primark.
2.
Jeans are from Topshop and cost £40. Although I really liked these jeans at first, just like all of my other jeans I have purchased from Topshop, they are now starting to fray around the inner thigh. Instead I would recommend buying jeans from River Island or in fact Primark.
3.
The turquoise stone is one of my favourite precious gems and I have so so many pieces of jewellery with it in. Tumbled turquoise is my particular favourite and if given as a present represents strength, protection from harm, psychic sensitivity and connection to the spiritual world. It is also the symbol of friendship:) This I got as a present from my boyfriend's mum for my 21st birthday and I absolutely love it.

a trip to primark

SO having spent very little money lately on clothes/ pretty much anything, I decided to treat myself yesterday to a trip into town which subsequently lead me to Primark.

Primark is the kind of place that you need to leave a few week between your visits, as it takes a while for things to change and for new pieces to arrive in store. Having said that though I never really have a problem finding anything I like in there. I am the sort of person who enjoys a good rummage around where as I know some of my friends prefer to be more concise and organised with their shopping.

Upon my recent trip here are the things that I purchased:

1.
2.
3.

4.

- First of all I cannot stress enough just how much I am in love with these shoes! I don't really think a photograph does them justice to be honest but let me assure you that they are comfortable, classy and incredibly beautiful! As soon as I saw them I knew I had to have them, they really remind me of high end designer heels and I believe it is Jimmy Choo who is a fan of using tassels on his shoes. I haven't bought heels since the spring when I purchased my nude ones from New Look (Day 17) so I felt that this slightly impulsive yet necessary purchase was justified and well deserved. What's more they were an absolute bargain at just £16.

-I chose this navy blue and cream striped cardigan as I really liked the cut, it is quite short on the body, and I remembered seeing a very similar one when I worked in Topshop for about £40.  I like how the jumper looks hand made with its intricate pattern and what's more it is easy to wear and most importantly warm! This cropped jumper cost me £12.

- I wasn't intending to buy the emerald green suede shorts and to be honest I am still not entirely sure if I am going to keep them. I am just not convinced that they are very 'me'. I do however have so many tops, blouses and shirts that they would look good with...I will experiment and get back to you on this one! These shorts cost £14.

-I don't think I can really pull off leggings as I am very short and quite stumpy, however this doesn't mean that I won't try dam it! I bought some from Topshop a few years ago that were black and white with intricate Gothic drawings on, however I never really felt comfortable in them so I ended up selling them on eBay for a third of what they cost. These however were only £6 and if I don't wear them at least I won't be losing out too much...I am however determined to be confident and get my ass into these leopard print beauties!

-Anyone who knows me will be aware of my slight obsession with scarfs. I have a scarf in every colour, pattern, size and shape imaginable. I love having lots of options and choice when it comes to what I will accessorise with what. This vintage style scarf will be a welcome addition to my every expanding scarf treasure trove and what's better is it was a bloody bargain costing just £3!

I think the moral of this story is get your butts down to Primark people...pronto!

Day 20

Evening everyone! Had a manic day doing a touch of shopping and attempting to get the internet sorted out on my mac, I eventually took it into the genius bar and taddaaa...it's now working again! I treated myself to a few pretty things that I discovered in Primark- I will upload photos on here tomorrow...

Here are my photos for day 20 of my 100 day challenge!

p.s these photos are dedicated to my boyfriend Andrew who told me he wants to see more of my ears in my outfit posts haha

1.
Feather Earrings: Topshop..I got these in last years winter sale and I think they cost me about £3
My cappuccino coloured blouse is also from Topshop and cost £38
2.
I realise I featured these leather shorts on here very recently, but the scarf I am wearing is new and I thought the two went perfectly together...These shorts were purchased on eBay and were a mock of the Topshop ones from last winter.
3.
Scarf: Primark £3...very impressed with this buy as the scarf is incredibly authentic, vintage and beautifully detailed.
